Meet Gregory, Our Consultant Psychologist in Richmond
Gregory is a consultant psychologist and experienced therapist in Melbourne with more than 35+ years of experience across trauma, child development, education and complex life circumstances. As the founder of the Australian Childhood Trauma Group, he has dedicated much of his career to helping individuals, families and professionals better understand and respond to the impact of difficult experiences.
At Kinematics, Gregory provides psychological support for adults and young people aged 16 years and over, bringing a thoughtful, practical and collaborative approach to each person’s care.
As a mental health therapist, he takes time to look beyond immediate symptoms and understand the experiences, relationships and circumstances influencing your wellbeing. Together, you can explore what is happening, what you would like to change and ways to move forward.
His trauma-informed approach recognises that past experiences can shape how we feel, relate and respond in the present. This means respecting your pace, involving you in decisions and working towards a therapeutic relationship in which you feel heard and understood.
A Whole-Person Approach to Psychological Care
At Kinematics, our team of Melbourne therapists recognises we recognise that mental and physical health are deeply connected. We also understand that your wellbeing is shaped by your experiences, relationships and the circumstances of your life.
Our psychology service offers space to explore what you are experiencing, make sense of patterns and develop practical ways forward. We work collaboratively with you, guided by your needs, priorities and pace.
Stress, trauma and emotional distress can influence sleep, energy and physical wellbeing. Equally, persistent pain, injury and changes in health can affect mood, confidence and relationships.
Where helpful, and with your consent, your Richmond psychologist can work alongside other Kinematics practitioners to support coordinated care. You do not need to be receiving any other Kinematics service to see our psychological therapist.

Is psychological therapy confidential?
Your privacy is central to psychological care. What you discuss with your psychological therapist is confidential, subject to legal and professional limits. Your psychologist will explain these limits, how your information is managed and answer any questions at the outset.
Seeing a mental health therapist at Kinematics does not mean the details of your sessions are routinely shared with other treating practitioners. Where collaboration would support your care, your psychologist will discuss what information would be shared, with whom and why, and seek your written, informed consent, unless disclosure is otherwise required or permitted by law.
You can discuss your preferences and any concerns about information sharing with your Richmond psychologist at any time.
What Can I Expect at My First Appointment with a Richmond Psychologist?
Your first appointment is an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to see a psychological therapist, what you would like support with and what matters to you.
Gregory will ask questions to understand your current circumstances and relevant experiences. You can share at a pace that feels manageable, and you do not need to arrive with everything worked out.
Together, you will discuss your priorities and possible next steps. There will also be time to ask questions about the approach, confidentiality and practical arrangements.
Appointments are 50 minutes long.
Eligibility for Medicare rebates depends on factors including your referral, treatment plan and the type of appointment provided. Private health coverage varies between insurers and policies.
