Pre & Post Natal Treatments

We treat women throughout all stages of their pregnancy.

Pregnancy Massage + Treatment

Pregnancy Massage + Treatment

We treat women throughout all stages of their pregnancy, assisting the mother-to-be with pain management, postural imbalances and education during their pregnancy, birth and beyond.

We offer hands-on pre and postnatal treatments which are individualised to encourage optimal alignment throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period. Depending on your practitioner, treatment techniques may include pregnancy massage, myofascial release, joint mobilisation and manipulation. In conjunction with hands-on treatments, we also offer Clinical Exercise and Pilates throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period.

While all of our clinicians are able to assist you on your pregnancy journey; our osteopath Lisa, physiotherapists Sophie and Susan, and remedial massage therapist Marla have a special interest and additional training in Women’s Health.

Physiological and postural changes start occurring to the mother’s body within the first few weeks of pregnancy. Therefore, we recommend booking an initial assessment as soon as you are able.

Following your delivery, it is usually recommended to wait until your six week Obstetrician check up for a return to physical activity (this includes commencing clinical exercise + Pilates), especially if recovering from a complicated delivery. However, if you are experiencing pain in the postnatal period, it is safe and encouraged to have a postnatal assessment and hands on treatment with one of our clinicians within the first month after delivery. This approach allows our Osteopaths and Physiotherapists to guide you on when it is safe for you to begin clinical exercise and Pilates.

There are many benefits to beginning Pilates pre-pregnancy including improved adaptability to postural changes occurring throughout pregnancy and a quicker postnatal recovery.
We understand that everyone’s pregnancy journey is different. For further information regarding clinical exercise and Pilates during pregnancy and the postnatal period, give us a call on 03 9421 3661.
