Ellie Atkins

Physiotherapist + Strength + Pilates

Ellie Atkins

Ellie is a physiotherapist with a strong background in sport and exercise rehab. She holds a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science and a Master of Physiotherapy Studies, and has worked across both elite and community sport settings. Her experience includes time working at the elite level with the Brisbane Lions and Essendon Football Club, and she is currently the Head Physiotherapist for Old Xavier Women’s Football Club and Carey Baptist Grammar Rowing.

Her treatment style combines hands-on care with targeted, strength-based rehabilitation. Ellie utilises manual therapy techniques such as hands-on treatment, joint mobilisation, and dry needling where appropriate, alongside specific, progressive strength programs tailored to the individual and the demands of their sport. Her goal is not just to reduce symptoms, but to address the underlying contributors to injury and build long-term resilience.

Ellie is passionate about helping athletes return to the sports and activities they love, stronger, more confident, and better prepared than before their injury. She enjoys working with active individuals who want to understand their bodies and get the most from rehab, and she takes a highly individualised approach, with no cookie-cutter plans; every program is built around the person, their goals, and the real-world demands they aim to meet.

In addition, Ellie is currently undertaking further training in women’s health physiotherapy, with a focus on female athlete performance and the unique considerations for women across the lifespan, including pre- and post-menopausal athletes. This allows her to better support female athletes with evidence-based, performance-focused care that accounts for hormonal, load, and recovery factors.

Outside the clinic, Ellie loves trying new restaurants and exploring Melbourne’s food scene, and has recently taken up golf – still very much a work in progress.

Ellie is at Kinematics Monday to Friday.
