Sophie Barker
Senior Physiotherapist + Pilates + Women's Health
Sophie Barker
Sophie graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Australian Catholic University in Ballarat and has since returned to Melbourne, where she is a long-standing and proud member of the Kinematics community.
Sophie’s passion for physiotherapy began through her own experiences as a patient, spending many hours in clinics rehabilitating various sporting injuries. These experiences sparked her interest in the profession and have since evolved into a strong passion for Women’s Health and Clinical Pilates.
Sophie has completed further training in Women’s Health and enjoys supporting women across all stages of life. She works holistically with clients experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction, prolapse, bladder and bowel incontinence, as well as those seeking guidance through pre- and post-natal care or wanting to safely return or begin to exercise. Sophie is passionate about empowering women with education, reassurance and evidence-based care.
In her treatments at Kinematics, Sophie utilises a combination of hands-on manual therapy techniques, including soft tissue release, trigger point therapy, dry needling and cupping, alongside targeted therapeutic exercise to improve mobility, stability and strength. She has a particular passion for Clinical Pilates and thrives when guiding clients through this approach to build confidence, control and long-term movement resilience.
Outside the clinic, Sophie grew up competing in dance and swimming and has since developed a love for Pilates and netball. When she’s not treating clients, you’ll likely find her supporting the Bombers, spending time with family in regional Victoria, or with her very sassy French Bulldog, Baxter.
Sophie is at Kinematics on Monday to Friday.
Please note: Sophie is not currently accepting any new DVA, TAC or Workcover clients.
